COALITION PROGRAM MANAGER

Blue Ridge Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM) is a 501(c) (3) public charity. Blue Ridge PRISM partners with federal/state/local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, HOAs, community organizations, and land stewards to control invasive plants over a 3.6 million-acre area of public and private lands in the northern Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Our core purpose is to improve the health of our natural world for future generations.

Blue Ridge PRISM seeks a Coalition Program Manager (CPM) to facilitate and expand the work of the Virginia Invasive Plant Coalition. Successful candidates will have strong diplomacy skills, high emotional intelligence, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and will be adept at leading without power. They will also have superior problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities. Our Coalition partners have diverse backgrounds, conflicting challenges, and competing demands, yet we share one consensus-driven Common Agenda. The CPM will support the Coalition by providing the necessary infrastructure, resources, and management to ensure its endeavors are a success.

The CPM must be accountable, reliable, independent, presentable, professional, and a self-starter. They need to be comfortable in a wide range of environments, from out on the rural landscape to the halls of the General Assembly.

Qualifications

  • Interest in learning about invasive plants in Virginia, Virginia native plants, and preserving Virginia’s natural heritage

  • Proven program and organizational skills

  • Exceptional oral presentation design and delivery

  • Virtual and in-person event and presentation management experience including using Zoom webinar platform

  • MS Office and Google Workspace software; ideal candidate will have experience in Squarespace/Wix, Mail Chimp, Canva, and social media management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, proactive

  • Attention to detail and able to ascertain the strategic implications of actions

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Masters degree preferred

Position Requirements and Compensation

This is an exempt full-time position based on 40 hours per week. The work will be done remotely (PRISM does not have a central office) and high-speed internet connectivity is a must. Ideally the successful candidate will reside within PRISM’s 12-county service area with strong preference given to candidates living near the Charlottesville, Virginia area (within a 45-minute drive).

Occasional local and statewide travel will be necessary to facilitate in-person meetings with partners and to attend key PRISM and Coalition business meetings. Access to reliable transportation is required and travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Salary range is $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience. Blue Ridge PRISM offers a competitive benefits package including a SIMPLE IRA with a 3% employer match upon eligibility, long and short-term disability, 20 PTO days annually plus federal holidays. The Coalition Program Manager reports to the Executive Director.
